In , the CEO of Open World Entertainment , Jang Seok Woo , was arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing female trainees and coercing male idols signed to his agency to do so as well. Police interviewed over 20 people they believed to be victims. As the investigation continued, they found evidence that Jang Seok Woo had drugged and raped the trainees since Police also found evidence that the CEO coerced some of the male idols to take part in the abuse. At first, Jang Suk Woo denied all charges but has since admitted to committing some of the crimes. South Korean singer quits as K-pop sex scandal widens
The late Goo Hara helped the reporter investigate the chatroom allegations that rocked the Korean entertainment industry earlier this year. Former Kara singer Goo Hara died on Sunday aged 28, with police ruling out any foul play in her death. Jung Joon Young earlier this year admitted to filming women having sex without their consent and sharing the intimate footage in KakaoTalk chatrooms, with the scandal initially being uncovered by Kang Kyung Yoon. Choi Jong Bum is serving a one year and six months prison sentence, suspended for three years, after being found guilty of assault causing bodily harm, intimidation, coercion and destruction and damage of property. He was found not guilty of filming Goo Hara without her consent after she alleged he threatened to release a sex tape to ruin her career.
K-pop singer Jung Joon-young has been arrested following allegations he posted sexually explicit videos of women that were filmed without their consent. South Korean police issued an arrest warrant for the year-old singer hours after he apologised to his victims at a hearing. Seungri, from the group Big Bang, quit the boy band just two days before the news about Jung emerged, after being charged with soliciting prostitutes for VIP members and potential investors of his business. He denies the charges against him and has promised to co-operate with police. According to reports from South Korean media, both singers have been banned from leaving the country.
