As a professional photographer, I'm disappointed with the state of the selfie , the "sexy selfie" in particular. With the sheer amount of "leaked" photos on the Internet , it's infuriating that we're raising the next generation to believe that terribly composed, naked iPhone photos are sexy. For goodness sake, the nude photo used to be an art form, but lately it seems we seem to have forgotten how truly sexy the human body can be in all its subtlety. Lest I sound shame-y, I, too, have been guilty of the full face, full-on boob shot. And guess what? But after becoming more involved in boudoir and portrait photography , I discovered that there are many more exciting ways to increase the mystery of a nude picture without simply flashing your boobs — and guess what? They're super-easy.
To snap or not to snap? That is the question when it comes to nudes, I mean. There's nothing wrong with sending a tantalizing pic of yourself to bae while they're at the library cramming for finals — for moral support, of course — or just for your own safekeeping. Hey, if you're feeling yourself and the lighting is bomb, you're practically obligated to selfie. This is millennial law.
Seriously, a quick scroll through Instagram will remind you everyone loves a good butt photo. In fact, taking nude photos of my body has been crucial to my eating disorder and body dysmorphia recovery over the last several years. Nailing the angle in a mirror selfie is always tough, and lighting is hard to manage there, too.
Have you ever been in the situation where you were sexting a guy and all of a sudden he asks for a nude pic? Of course, you have! Inevitably, during the process, you get frustrated snapping selfie after selfie because nothing is coming out in the sexy porn star way that you want. Nude selfies are a great form of foreplay and can also really put the heat in a long distance relationship.
